Description
Watching the running taxis across the sixth avenue is an eye candy scene. While Taxicabs of New York city are a widely recognized icon of the city, observing it from an eagle view makes it look like a scene from the Blade Runner movie.
Taxi cabs are both loved and hated by New Yorkers. They serve as a quick and easy means of transportation across Manhattan, a route not amply served by the subways. The downside with having an abundance of cabs is the traffic that results. Most traffic-jams in mid-town are speckled with many of the over 10,000 yellow cabs that service the city.
As of today New York City has more than 4000 hybrid taxis, which are significant part of the whole fleet that counts more than 12000 taxis in service the most in any city in North America.
These days the cabs are easily identified with the medallion number followed with a checker pattern on the left and right rear fenders, a futuristic fare panel on the rear doors, and a retro "NYC Taxi" logo on the front doors, with a yellow T in a black circle.
