Description
MOONSHINES TO FINEWINES by PRISCILLA BURGERS
A sign over a liquor store in the mining semi-ghost town of Pitkin, Colorado advertises "Moonshines to Finewines." Pitkin was founded in 1879 and is said to be Colorado's first mining camp west of the Continental Divide. Originally named Quartzville, it was renamed to honor Governor Frederick W. Pitkin. The town has a total area of .3 square mile and 66 residents.
