Description
Moonset above Mount Tom at dawn (blue hour), Eastern Sierra-Nevada Mountain Range, California. We were greeted on this chilly autumn morning by lovely alpenglow on the mountain tops just before sunrise as the full Moon was setting above Mount Tom.
This is a grand view looking west from a ridge in eastern Sierra. Mount Tom is the dominant mountain on the right, with an elevation of 13657 feet. The mountain chopped off on the left in this composition (which is south of Mount Tom) is Basin Mountain. The three peaks in between the two are, from right to left, Merriam Peak, Royce Peak and Seven Gables Peak.
