Description
They have been growing Zinfandel grapes in California since the 1850's. This variety is also called Primitivo, and for good reason. A type of this vine was cultivated in Croatia in ancient times going back thousands of years. Some time ago I saw 100 year old Zinfandel vines up in the Gold Country near Plymouth. Mister Zinfandel is happy in and around Paso Robles. He doesn't mind the cold but he likes it a little warmer and Paso can easily hit 100 degrees in the summertime. This portrait was taken in the fall, when the leaves were turning color and the grapes were starting to get happy.

Looks like there is Dionysus blessings all over this marvelous painting, so unique in style ,composition and color. It has the depth of an old vine artistically twisted, arthritis-looking , gnarly vine, that stingily offer up fruit that is transmorgrified into wines that are intense, concentrated and identifiable,Your painting has the same impalpable qualities....

What a reminder of my grape picking days as a youngster. Many sweet grapes never make if to the wine press :-)
R W Goetting replied:
Back in the old days I swamped 'em for a summer job. That is picking up the boxes of grapes and putting them on the truck. Great job if you enjoy wasps!! Thank you for your comment Ginette!
