Hi Nadine and Bob, Thank you for visiting my work and for your very informative comment.
Nadine and Bob Johnston
The 5th Regimental Combat Team on one side of the road, and the 1st Marine Brigade on the other, were the Point units of the 1st Cavalry in the crossing of the Naktong River, and the Breakout from the Pusan perimeter. Then the 1st Marine Brigade was pulled out, for the landing at Inchon. While the 5th Infantry led the push north, eventually reaching 8 miles from the Yalu River. The 5th served 94 days in combat out of every 100 days in Korea. The only unit with so many days in combat. The Only Book ever written about an Army Unit, by a Marine, "Hills of Sacrifice," (Amazon) A Marine General compared the 5th RCT record in Korea, to that of the 1st Marines during WWII... But, without the 1st Marines on our Left Flank, the breakout from Pusan probably could not have been so successful.... It took the cooperation of two great units...
