Description
There are a lot of Marilyn drawings and paintings, but they usually portray her in a glamorous light. I wanted to draw the more vulnerable side of her. She turned out to be a very challenging person to draw. Possibly because her face is so well-known. Perhaps it is because her beauty is so complex. It runs deep from skin to bone. From outward appearance to inner beauty that surpasses youth and transcends through age, if she was to have had the chance to age.

Thank you, Helena (that is my daughter's name). I've never been called Paul before. Perhaps you meant the Paul above you. He did do a portrait of Marilyn, but this one is mine. :-)

Jani this is one of the best Marilyn's I've ever seen. Beautiful!
Jani Freimann replied:
Thank you, Carol. After doing the research I did, I found her to be a sad, sad soul. She traveled the world, but didn't see it. She was loved by everyone, but was very lonely. She desparately wanted children, but couldn't have any. That is what I wanted to capture. What she really was when the camera wasn't on her.

The best Marilyn drawing I have ever seen. Soft and delicately done. Beautiful.

Thank you, Jan. That's quite a compliment. Very much appreciate your comment. :-)

Beautifully done! You captured who Marilyn Monroe was!
Jani Freimann replied:
Thank you, Helena, I'm so glad you see what I was going for, the behind the scenes Marilyn. Glamor mask removed and troubled soul revealed.
