Description
The Manistee Pierhead Light is located on the north pier and is a 39 feet (12m) tall cast iron construction capped with a ten-sided steel lantern. This photograph of the pier is the result of a long exposure of over five minutes that causes the waves and motion of Lake Michigan to turn into a smooth milky white surface. The misty overcast weather adds to the dramatic look of the image. The original image was captured on Kodak Tri-X black and white film which adds the characteristic film grain that enhances the image giving it a classic black and white feel.
Jeff Burton is a Peoria, IL based Fine Art Photographer, who seeks to capture moments that instill a sense of calm and wonderment with the world around us. His monochrome photography style emphasizes the often-overlooked rich texture and tones of his subjects.
