The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, gets up to 18 miles in width and reaches depths of over a mile. It is hard to believe it is carved out by the Colorado River. When this was taken the river was a small ribbon of water occasionally glimpsed when looking from the top of the canyon. This photograph is digitally enhanced to give it an artistic oil painting appearance.

Breathtaking beauty. I have visted the Grand Canyon and was so taken aback at its beauty. Its so massive and it made me feel quite respectful of nature.

Holy Cow John, this is just overwheming. The idea of a place like this is about enough to take your breath away. The first time I was ever at Grand Canyon was 1957, before my sophomore year in high school. My older brother and I were taking a trip from Santa Ana to Kansas City and made the trek to see it. We were almost out of gas as we left, and had to pay $.50 a gallon, and about had a stroke. UNHEARD of expensive back then.

Great story Don. I grew up in Southern California but never saw the canyon until many years later while we were relocating to Florida. This photo was taken a couple of years ago on our 2nd visit. We're going back again in July!
