North and north-central Florida are brimming with amazing crystal-clear rivers and pools, each fed by one or more of its own natural springs. One such spot is beautiful Silver Springs Park, a perfect day-trip during a Orlando vacation to Orlando's Sunshine Resorts or The Fountains. At the Silver Springs wildlife park, these springs pump out enough sparkling clear water to supply the entire city of New York. Of course, this abundance of fresh water attracts a plethora of wildlife as well as visitors eager to see the beauty.
"Wings of the Springs" used to be presented at the outdoor Silver River Showcase Theater. This dramatic free flight show featured a diverse collection of birds. It showcased parrots of the tropical rainforest, comical ducks and chickens, and the magnificent raptors (including hawks, eagles, owls, falcons and vultures). The show was sure to broadend the visitor's horizon with an out of the ordinary surprise ending.
At the end of 2013, Florida's park service will take over Silver Springs. When the park service takes over operations, the rides, the parrots and the reptile farm, will be gone, and Silver springs will become the kind of natural Florida that people are hoping to see.

Congrats on your win in the digitally modified contest Christine-Lovely fellows!!!Glad I read your description Christine-Nice to know the park service took it over- One of my enjoyable old stomping grounds.Picked up a rattler across the road at Silver Springs and asked them if it was one of theirs'. They said it was one of the most beautiful baby diamondbacks they had ever seen, but wasn't theirs'-So I let in go in the forest where it belonged-great mosquito eaters/F/L
