Description
This tree stands as a lone sentinel on Sanson Peak in the Sulphur Range in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. Sanson Peak was named for the meteorologist Norman Bethune Sanson who manned the weather station atop this peak in the early 1900's. Weather atop the mountain was so severe at times that N.B. Sanson sometimes worried that he would be able to make it back to Banff alive. Today you can reach the top of Sanson Peak via a tramway and boardwalk.
