Description
I was planning on painting outside but the freezing drizzle continued chilled me to the bone .... so I worked from a photo that I had taken from the north end of Lake Solitaire. I was looking at a property that was supposed to come on the market. It never did. It was a beautiful piece of land with nice frontage but was not meant to be ... at least for Linda and I. Even though it is a studio piece I try to immerse myself in the memories of that day - the stroke of the paddle through the water.
Lake Solitaire is in the Limberlost area just outside the west boundary of Algonquin Park. I spent a day paddling the lake in September of 2006. This is the point looking southward toward the communications tower which is a long way in the distance and barely discernible. I could have gotten high speed internet service from that tower.
I always admire the lone tree like it is a missionary out to spread the seed and the good word. They withstand far more abuse and more elements than their brothers in the forest. The flagging of the tree reveals the prevailing wind direction.
