Description
Iconic British red telephone box in the heart of Westminster--a popular photo op spot for London tourists.
.
The General Post Office introduced eight kiosk styles from 1926 to 1983. Kiosk No. 6, here pictured, was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the coronation of King George V. Kiosk no. 6 came to represent the iconic British red Telephone Box, featuring a domed top, molded royal crown, illuminated sign, ventilation slots, blank back panel, cast iron constructions w/ teak door, 8x3 glass panes, and decorative side moulding. Standing 8 feet tall & 3 feet wide, Kiosk No.6 first appeared on England's streets in 1936. By the close of production in 1968, over 60,000 Kiosk No. 6 Telephone Boxes had been installed on England's streets. 10,700 Kiosk No. 6 models remain.

Wonderful capture Stephen, when's the last time anyone saw a regular phone booth? Beautiful old booth.

Nice one of this iconic phone box. Now becoming a rarity.
Stephen Stookey replied:
Thank you, Linsey. There are several telephone boxes in Westminster in the corner opposite Big Ben Tower.
