Description
The Green Bay Packers have plans to renovate their 168 luxury suites, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. The project will cost $55 million and will take place over the next two months.
The suites have not been renovated since the historic stadium's expansion in 2003, per ESPN. Currently, the windows to the stadium cannot be opened. Upon the completion of this project, Packers president Mark Murphy says fans sitting in the suites will be able to open the windows and remove the barrier between them and the game.
"I think the fans [in the suites] really want to feel that they're connected with the game," Murphy said, via ESPN. "So that will be the biggest improvement there."
The Packers have have made similar efforts to improve the fan experience in recent years, including sound system and video board updated. Murphy said the team has devoted "significant" resources to boost the stadium's Wi-Fi strength for game days, according to ESPN.
The Packers have not used public funding for these improvements, Murphy assured. The franchise has $280 million in a reserve fund, team treasurer Mark McMullen told ESPN.
