Description
Lady in white by Karen Cook - the stunning plumage of a nearly white and very unique female ring necked pheasant as she stands alert in the snow of a March afternoon in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. The sunlight highlights her pink legs and beak and the almost swan-like white of her feathers. She is not albino, but rather leucistic. Leucism is a lack of pigmentation in the feathers of birds, causing the plumage to be white or paler than the normal plumage of the species.
In November 2015 a framed 12 x 9 print of Lady in White was sold
