Description
The Fall months are my favourite time to prowl the coastline of Nova Scotia, Canada. When the autumn storm season approaches, gales up to hurricane force roar in off the Atlantic Ocean. A great spot to storm-watch is at the little fishing village of Peggy's Cove, where one can clamber over the huge blocks of granite left by the glaciers of the last Ice Age and have perfect view points of the wild ocean. Of course, some of us aren't that thrilled at the scene! This girl was one of them, and took shelter while her Dad braved the gale to get one more shot, while I captured both of them. Dangerous as the place can be, that day the wind was so strong it would have just blown us inland.
....A little about me:
I'm Canadian, born and raised in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, with a long career in radar, communications, and computers.Retired at 74. Scion of a Grand Banks schooner captain and a merchant mariner,I love the ocean. I started using 35mm.color in 1950.Favourite camera was an Exakta Varex.Switched to digital around 1998. My favourite themes are the sea, oceans, coastal, villages, water, lakes, mountains, wildlife, sky, clouds, flowers, forests, the National Parks such as Cape Breton Highlands, Waterton, Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Glacier, Mt. Robson, Kootenay, Strathcona, historic sites, Nova Scotia, nature, scenery, landscapes, seascapes, birds and many more. I've written magazine illustrating them with my own photos. I love photographing whatever appeals to me or happens to catch my eye. Almost all of my images are of Canada, though I probably specialize more on the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts and the western mountains. But you'll find an assortment from the whole country, including some from several years in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions back in the 1950's and 60's. I hope some of you will get some enjoyment from my efforts. Constructive comments and suggestions are always welcome.
