From the moment I laid eyes on the the painting, "Yellow Cow" by Fauvist artist FRANZ MARC, I was in love. The colors were so vibrant and the cow...so, well, yellow...and joyful...and jumping. Just looking at the pictures in Art History books made me want to see MORE.
I discovered that Marc used primary colors to represent male/female/emotions. Blue was used to represent the masculine, Yellow for the feminine, and Red often represented children or motherhood. He also used yellow to represent joy. Marc wanted to depict the nature he saw around him in colors that were, well, NOT NATURAL.
I, too, love to paint with vivid, saturated hues. And I love to create a world that is not natural but whimsical and how I wish it actually could be. Many of my descriptions tell of my thoughts concerning heaven. And I think that maybe in heaven I just might come across a yellow cow... at least, I hope so.
*In between working on commissioned pieces, I am recreating Masterpieces that have touched me and/or are easily recognized by most people. Of course they will each have a special "twist" in order to make them my own. I couldn't resist adding the red lips, blue eye shadow and mascara to the cow! She definitely has attitude! My hope is that this project will someday lead to my very first gallery show...only time will tell!

Laura, this is just lovely and it feels like stained glass but is so much more vivid. I just love the way you've infused it with such a profusion of colors and the way they compliment each other is even better. The movememt is fantastic and you know how I love it when you do Masters' type of works. I think this is just fabulous with your blendings of blues, greens and the standout of the yellow not to mention throwing in some pinks and oranges. FAV/Vote!

I hadn't even noticed the stained glass effect until you mentioned it! Maybe it has to do with all the glazes...I absolutely LOVE all the colors and the blending was so much fun to do. Thanks so much for the encouragement...now, back to painting I must go! Laura
