It's a Dog's World
Artist

Medium
Painting - Oil On Board
Description
"Beyond the gaze of best friends eyes sits a back-alley K-9 inhabited hot-spot. Chains and leashes are forbidden, bone appetit are the words of the day, shoes and shirts are not required and doggy bags are never given."
. . . . .
Number seven in a series of
seven (7) oil paintings ...
..... ..... .....
1st is "Muscle 4 Sale"
2nd is "Salad Bar"
3rd is "Toying Around"
4th is "Everybodies Beautiful"
5th is "Fifties Future"
..... ..... .....
7th is "it's a Dog's World"
..... ..... .....
The Restaurant is called "Bone Appetit", the Afghan Hound's purse is a Doggy Bag, the Dachshund family beneath the table are having a hot dog eating contest, the Sharpei is the only puppy that did not eat his dog food - woud rather gobble Chinese take-out noodles, and has a tattoo that says "Puppy Love" in Chinese & Japanese!
. . . . .
The Manchester Terrier is barking up the wrong tree because the Cat is in the other tree. And the trees are Dogwood trees. There are countless back-stories filling this painting populated with colorful characters as diverse as pure bred dogs can be.
. . . . .
I had so much fun creating this painting, currently there are 42 sets of 7 within the piece. Meaning: for instance, (set#1) 7 dogs are doing their job:
. . . . .
1- Golden Retriever = waiter
2- Jack Russell = entertainer
3- Doberman = Bouncer
4- Mutt = Flea Circus operator
5- Mastif = Junk-food waiter
6- Pomeranian = washing in Salon
7- Chihuahua = hair stylist in Salon
. . . . .
(set#2) 7 dogs are drooling
(set#3) 7 dogs are Terriers
(set#4) 7 dogs have Collars
. . . . .
and the 7's go on and on, like
the SEVEN TITLES:
1. Dog Day Afternoon
2. Every Dog has his Day
3. Gone To The Dogs
4. Doggy Style
5. Dog days of Summer
6. Off the Leash/Off the Chain
7. It's a Dog's World
. . . . .
With every purchase I include two(2) KEYS to the Painting, expaining everything.

I'm laughing, Victor!! Your win was very much earned and deserved!! :) PS... Your artisitic interpretation of the Afghan Hound was so beautiful... I have had the privilege of having them as a part of my family for many years - They are wonderful souls. :) Thank you for expressing their beauty and personality so well. :) Regards, Darlene
Victor Powell replied:
that's so cool Darlene, ... I hope ya get the chance to read THIS --> Probably the best Afghan Hound Art Story Ever (haha) well, for an artist wanting to work doing dog portraits!! I was selling this print (as a Canvas Giclee) on the streets of NYC, in front of the Flat Iron Building on Broadway and 22nd Street in the Summer of 2011. It was the end of a long day, while closing up my table - as I was covering the 30"x45" canvas I spied a person walking by with his eyes transfixed on the Art. ((the last part left un-covered was the Afghan Hound at the table - Right)) ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... My wife said, "there's someone looking" as if I should stop and uncover it, which I have done countless times over the three years as Art vendors in NY. I just said, "it's OK, how many times has this happened?" a . l.o.n.g . story longer - he went away, walked to the corner but came back ten seconds later. OK, I was interested, I asked him what he thought, he stretched out his arm holding his business card, saying, "WE NEED TO TALK" ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... Looking at his card as he was turning to hurry on his way, I said IN A LOUD VOICE so he would hear over the NYC street noises, "wait a minute Dennis" He said smiling, "why, ... do you wanna take me to dinner?" My wife didn't know what was happening, she did not see the card with the Gold AKC emblem, and President and CEO underneath his name! I knew this was an opportunity I was waiting for. He told me what caught HIS EYE was the AFGHAN HOUND, because he had raised/showed champions for years! ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... After some chit-chat about portraits of dogs in Oils - I made an appointment for the very next day with him and his staff. The commission I got six months later was to illustrate the New Poster for the "AKC/Eukanuba 2012 Championship in Orlando, Florida" ... ---> http://puppypetportraits.com/AKC.html
