Description
Believe it or not, being outside in a blowing, swirling snowstorm is very exciting, especially when I have a place to go when I cannot feel my fingers anymore. I must get some special gloves to cover my hands so that my fingers can stay warm while shooting photographs in this type of weather! Genevieve, my sidekick, endured the wind and blowing snow while I tried desperately to capture the essence of this amazing snow storm. I digitally altered the photograph enhancing the tone mapping and changing it to a dark black and white. The effect is just what I hoped for! Genevieve is silhouetted against the white and heavily falling snow. And yes, she got an amazing treat when we ventured back inside! She definitely earned it!
On a personal note, this is by far my favorite photograph that I have ever taken. I love this dog and to have her accompanied by this background is so special!

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.

This is a beautiful image, you did an outstanding job in working it, the content of this sweet dog and the cabin in the woods is so alluring and comforting, such peace and warmth within an image of cold snow. F/L
