Chapter one Gold can glitter but it cant sing
The day was July 27Th in the year of the Lord 1862.
.....
A few more minutes went by before another very large impressive looking Indian came out of the Tepee and sat down on the one and only bear skin rug across the fire from him. He gathered that the imposing man must be the big Chief by the way in which he was dressed. The man wore a full deerskins costume too but not like the plain leather suits of the others, this long over shirt was brightly adorned with beaded designs and his pants had many more layers of fringes down the sides of the legs then anything hed ever seen before. Even the Indians boots were fancy and topped in white fur laced up to his knees. The Indian was much older than the others but in good physical shape, from what he could tell at least. The Chiefs hair was pulled back in a long braid and he wore a leather strap across his forehead with a picture of a White Owl beaded into the band. The Chief puffed away on a foot long pipe, eyeing him over from head to foot. Why you crazy white man came looking for us? the Chief said in perfect English. The shock must have shown on his face, he didn't know they knew English and the Chief was right, he did feel like a crazy man at that particular moment.
