Windmills have always fascinated me, even as a child. I found this one beside a home in a Texas town. As I was titling the photograph, the phrase "Windmills of Your Mind" kept coming back to me. I thought it was a song, so I looked it up and there it was. Years ago when I was much younger, I had heard Petula Clark sing the song. Then recently in 2011, Barbara Streisand recorded an absolutely beautiful version of the song.

Here are just a few of the lyrics of the song by French composer Michel Legrand, with English lyrics written by Americans Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman. The French lyrics, under the title "Les moulins de mon cœur", were written by Eddy Marnay. The song (with the English lyrics) was used as the theme for the 1968 film, "The Thomas Crown Affair."

"Round, like a circle in a spiral

Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnaval balloon
Like a carousell that's turning
Running rings around the moon
