Masterpiece Miche. ! You have your own talent to discover and capture beauty in common places. The composition, colour tonality and atmosphere are sublime. Again one of yours L/F.
Michel Verhoef replied:
Thanks Carmen for discovering this older image in my work....your words feel always precious :)

Your way of capturing people is stunning, in this and throughout your photos here. What a gift.

Amazing. Michel, this image has such emotion in it. The title helps with context and the subject's face full of hope and yet ambivalence of leaving his home country. It must be a scary experience. Chances are he doesn't speak the language and will have mountains to climb to fulfill his dream of a better life. Particularly relevant right now, with the migrant crisis in Europe. Canada is going to take in 25,000 by January 1st, but that is a drop in the bucket. Breaks my heart. We have a huge country here and hope we can give many more refuge. I know I got off topic, but this image brought me there. Besides emotional. It is also beautiful. He warm black skin and the soft wrinkles in the curtain that frame him so well. Fantastic photograph.

Thanks Maggie for your lovely words. Yes it is a hot issue nowadays and it's almost everyday the first news item here...and people are scared of the quantity and they are afraid about loosing their jobs and houses because of them...and they seem to forget the people behind the statistics...sooooo....it is good that the humanitarian side is shown too with pictures even by some amateur photographers like me :) thanks again Maggie !!

Beautiful image. I love the texture of the drape and the monochromatic treatment. You are truly an artists behind a lens.
