uploaded mostly for a 'contest' on ffa about the cross and it's symbolism. i couldn't help but be reminded that it is 25 years since the unveiling of andres serrano's piss christ. still despised and hopelessly misunderstood, to me it remains an astonishingly revealing piece of allegory. i believe it actually means approximately the opposite of what people tend to assume. i can't hope to capture the brilliance of his piece, but here the cross is juxtaposed with a being that in the old testament is fodder for sacrifice, and in the modern world fodder for self indulgent dining.
