Hyacinth macaws (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) at the entrance to a tree hole. This is the largest parrot in the world, reaching a length of a metre with a 1.5 metre wingspan. It feeds on nuts, which it cracks open with its powerful bill, as well as fruits and other plant material. It inhabits wetlands and riverside forest edges in central South America. Photographed in Brazil, in the Pantanal, the world's largest wetland region.
