Built in 1904, this exclusive hotel occupies a prominent place in 'La Cite' of old Carcassonne. Impeccably outfitted for luxury, it's spacious and known to be 'top of the line' with a "Library Bar". It's said that Michael Jackson once rented out the entire building. Built with secret doors & passages. It has also hosted Winston Churchill, Princess Grace of Monaco (Grace Kelly) among others..
There are extensive gardens and the pool which are private yet butt right up against the thousand year old stone walls, arches and some of the 52 turrets in this historic romantic World Heritage Site.
I took this shot in late December, it was a warm afternoon with wonderful light, in the ancient Cite of Carcassonne. I love the subtle, gentle light on the stones, the vines & the gold lettering.
