Description
This cat's image was taken in the Texas panhandle, perched on her first mom's muumuu. Her first mom passed away right before this image was taken. She lived to be 92. I used a Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 28-200 lens. Also a Nikon SB800 Speedlight was bounced off the ceiling.

All cats are royality, from the lowliest alley cat to the cats that own the rich and famous. They all deserve to live in the lap of luxury, perching anywhere they please. They help us make the beds, sit on computer keyboards helping us type and also serve as bedwarmers on the coldest nights. Of course they get the softest, warmest part of the bed and push us to the other (cold) side in the middle of the night. Cats always should get their way, even if if means buying them filet mignon for their meals. Of course we cut it up for them, making it easier for them to chew. All cats should be spoiled, mine are.

This heir of the throne is called a tabby. Tabby is a coloration, not a breed. Many breeds have tabby patterns in their ancestry. Tabbys have a distinctive coat that features striped, dots, lines or swirling patterns, usually together with a mark resembling an "M" on it's forehead. The tabby pattern is a naturally occurring feature that may be related to the coloration of the domestic cat's direct ancestor, th African Wildcat., which along with the European Wildcat and Asiatic Wildcat, has a similar coloration.

I really love this beautiful and poignant portrait. My Sugar was much the same way after my Mom passed. She grieved for over six months and still looked for her even though she was there when Mom passed. I hope this little gal got a new loving home.

Thank you, Bunny, we kept both of her cats until they passed, so yes, they had a loving hone.

A precious and beautiful work Karen. It takes time for these little sweeties to settle in after losing mom. I know it did for Sugar. :o)

Our sweet furry friends always seem at the biggest loss. They lose their whole world when we pass. She's gorgeous and I love the muumuu background for her.
Karen Slagle replied:
Thank you Bunny, she was lost for awhile but she led a wonderful life with me and my husband...She was loved to the end, we lost her last summer.
