Description
Title: "Haiti's Day of the Dead"
Haiti’s Day of the Dead combines Christianity with Voodoo Practices to pray for the spirits of the dead. A black cross is sometimes hung up to symbolize the spirit of death, “Baron Samedi”. Voodoo is still practiced today with hundreds who follow this tradition. many people ask for their wishes to be granted on this day and pray for a better life, hoping the spirits of their loved ones will lend them a hand in accomplishing their goals.
As an artist, I find the Day of the dead a very interesting cultural gathering of important significance that connects life and death and because this tradition is celebrated throughout the world in so many different cultures, the inspiration to create is an endless endeavor and one I find to be fantastical!
This artwork was created on a small canvas measuring 8″ × 10″ and is painted in Acrylics on Gallery Wrapped Canvas and Decorated with Silver Glitter.
