Amazing photo! Despite foreground obstruction (which adds a nice sense of place), the focus on the bird (and fish) is perfect. Somehow, your shutter speed was slow enough to make a sun burst of the sparkle closest to the heron. The little fan of feathers at the shoulder is an added touch. The ripples and reflection are a subtle layer of interest as well. Great photo. v/f

Mary your comments on another photo in the series, about the value of the growth in front of the bird and the ripples in the water, led me to post this picture that I had not before posted. Rejected it for some of the very reasons you made a positive comment on. Thank you
