Gonorrhoea bacteria. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria (green). This Gram-negative bacteria causes the sexually transmitted infection gonorrhoea. Symptoms include vaginal or urethral discharge and a burning sensation on urination. However, the majority of infected women develop no symptoms.
