Description
As the sun slowly disappears over the horizon, a Mennonite farmer heads home to his farm near St. Jacobs, Ontario (Jacobstadl as it is known to locals in Pennsylvania Dutch dialect). There are many Mennonite, Amish and Hutterite communities throughout Canada and The United States (particularly in Pennsylvania) with similar farm fields and country landscapes.
I composed this image using my oil on canvas painting called INSPIRATION for the background. Using digital photo manipulation I superimposed a photo that I took during my travels down a country lane in southern Ontario's beautiful rural landscape. I made the foreground photo image of the horse pulling a wagon and Amish farmer slightly transparent to emphasize the vanishing old traditions of gentle days and simple ways.
