Description
A hurricane lantern illuminates the wooden sign of Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, regarded as the oldest structure to be used as a bar in the United States and one of the oldest buildings in New Orleans. Located on the corner of Bourbon and St. Philip Streets, this shop was a base for smuggling operations and a meeting center for businessmen from Spain, France, Africa, and North America.
