Description
This bust of Francis Scott Key, also known as the Star-Spangled Banner Monument, is at the Francis Scott Key Park in Washington, DC. The small park is situated in the approximate area where Key lived in Washington, and is on M Street in Georgetown, next to the entrance to the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which crosses the Potomac River and connects the District with the state of Virginia. Key wrote the Star-Spangled Banner, our national anthem, as he watched the bombing of Fort McHenry in Baltimore during the War of 1812. (The bust was made by Betty Mailhouse Dunston in 1985.)
