Looking for an inkling of hope in this image and am not finding one. You've done an excellent job creating a mood here, Heather! This is a very well-balanced presentation and everything points to despair ...Voted.

Heather, Great job at using mixed medias to create one fantastic piece of art, the detail and clarity of this piece of art is amazing. When I look at the girl my eyes go right to her eyes you have done a fantastic job at drawing the viewers eyes right into this sad girl. Along with an amazing background of a stone wall and in my opinion surrounded on each side by gothic trees. Gives me the impression that she is surrounded by all of the coldness in the world with the wall and trees not in bloom and her face just staring out of the picture almost looking for help. Very emotional felt piece of art. Excellent job. VOTED

The patchwork on the trees, dress, the expression and position, all add up to an emotional impact on the viewer. Sad, but intriguing.

Hi Heather, There is usually an advantage to seeing others comments on a work before you do. In this case Charlie and Peri and others have put things into to words about this image that I might've struggled to do otherwise. I can add only as others have noted the little girls sad expression and pose are the touchstones of this piece for me!
