Description
"Four Peaks Vista" was recently chosen for use on the TV series "Longmire" which runs on A&E. Episode 302 will feature Arizona and will be showing in June of 2014.
This watercolor painting was created after taking many photos of the
Four Peaks Wilderness area around the Mazatzal Mountain Range
within the Tonto National Forest.
This area is just outside the Phoenix area in Arizona and
Four Peaks is a famous landmark that can be seen from the valley.
It is especially magnificent after a snowstorm that leaves
the peaks covered with white.
I included a variety of cacti that can be spotted all around the area.
The most popular and most visible is the stately saguaro cactus.
Other cacti include golden barrel, claret cup, cholla, red fishhook barrel.
The variety of landscape in the area is so appealing to artists
as the terrain changes from sandy desert to rocky ledges
and then on to mountain peaks,
all within one glorious scene.
