These gorgeous lillies in full bloom stretch towards the light of the summer sun, one in deep orange and yellow, the other a deep burgandy with peach centers. Their petals drink up the rain and cool down before their evening rest and their one day of glory starts it's process to an end. Water droplets dance down the underbelly of these thick stealthy beauties as the stamens dance in the wind. Nature has blessed us once again with an amazing display of her talents with these wonderous lillies.

The botanical name for this stunning genus is Hemerocallis and it is from the family Hemerocallidaceae. The Greek name is derived from the meaning of "beauty" and "day". Most people may not know an interesting history about this plant and that is the roots and the crown of this plant were used by the Ancient Chinese as a pain reliever and a diuretic, as well as use for other medicinal purposes. It was also consumed as a food source in ancient times.
