Description
Bad Day at the Office
A lonely SE5A is harried by a couple of Fokker Dr1s - with only a minimal speed advantage in hand the SE will have to wriggle out of this by manoeuvre. Where is your wing man when you need him most!!
By 1917 the art of air combat had become more and more refined with the better pilots being aided by lesser lights acting as support or wing men. von Richthofen, in particular, worked this tactic to his very great advantage achieving 80 kills from late 1916 until April 1918.
A typical combat scene in the grey skies of Flanders in the latter months of WW1 - where RFC front line pilots had a life expectancy of about three weeks.
