Description
The ice plant in this remote stretch of California coast land seems ablaze with color. The fog completes the illusion giving a hint of smoke.
Carpobrotus edulis (ice plant) is native to South Africa, but is a common plant along parts of the Californian and the Mediterranean coasts. Ice plant is also known as Hottentot-fig, pig face and sour fig. Many animals use ice plant as a food source. Apparently, even people can eat the fruit and leaves, though I have never tried it myself!

Caitlyn this is stunning! I remember Iceplant well, from when I lived in California. I have not seen it since then. I miss it.
Caitlyn Grasso replied:
Thank you very much, Lee. I grew up with a clump right outside my front door. I suppose that I would miss it too.
