the full blown hood on the D gave much better vision, but the B and C were both lighter and still preferred by some . The addtion of the dorsal fin helped some in making up for the cut down rear fuselage. The K pictured here was the all around best fighter of WW 2 I see these arrived after D Day as there are no invasion stripes. I think the Ks were never as numerous as the Ds. I am wondering if Yeager flew a K when he shot down a MR 262? After the war you could buy P-51Ds for $1,500.00 ea.
