The woman in this painting is taken from Frederic Leighton's Flaming June where he sought to show the tiniest link between sleep and death. I, on the other hand, whilst attributing the Master Frederic Leighton have sought to show a very different perspective. The woman lays amongst beds of poppies,violets and daisies under a very soft sky. She lay softly dozing in what can only be called a very sensual pose - as if waiting for her lover.
My perspective is the more romantic one of seeing the link between nature and desire and how what is around us can perhaps for many of us enhance our mood, or place us in an emotive state where love, lust, and nature all come together as one.
My finest attribution goes to F Leighton. I can only hope that if he were alive today he might approve of his lady of desire.
