Description
This painting is part of my "At the Letter" Series of Dressage watercolors. The Extended Canter is a powerful movement in the dressage test. A well trained dressage horse can extend into an explosive canter and then come back to a collected canter in just a stride or two, even to the point of cantering on the spot as with the canter pirouette where the horse canters and turns at the same time, keeping his back legs almost on the exact same spot. This painting shows how the horse collects his body in order to extend with power across the arena. The letter E is situated at the half way point in the middle of the long side of the arena 20 meter by 60 meter rectangle.

Kristine, this is beautiful. I enjoyed looking at all your work and I too love horses. F&F

Beautiful Kristine. Your horse and rider are perfect. I see you selected a background slightly out of focus, and that is what I did too. I thought it helped indicate the speed the horses were going (A Polo Match). Anyway this is just wonderful. I liked the description of the painting tool. PS, How did you get the images under your major painting photo "More from Kristine Plum"? Cool idea. Thanks, Roena
