Description
Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe is one of the most photographed places on Earth. This beautiful scene is visited by 10s of thousands of people every year. This painting is from the top of Eagle Falls looking down on the bay. The little island is the only island on Lake Tahoe. There is a old building on top of the island called the Tea House, the island's name is Fannette Island. This little building was built for the women who owned the only house in Emerald Bay. The house, called Vikingsholm, and the little island is part of the State park and can be toured. There are only two ways to get to the bay one is by boat and the other is via a steep one mile trail that drops 500 feet in elevation. I've hiked this trail many times with my children and family. It's a great place to spend the day.
I chose to paint this scene in a realistic style. I added some woodland creatures to give it more life and a bit of fun for the viewers. How many animals can you pick out?
