An extreme macro photograph taken at my home in Sissinghurst, Kent England, of arguably the most beautiful colorful of the British Moths, this is the elephant Hawk Moth (deilephila elpenor). it is from the Sphingidea family, which are know as the Sphinx moths or Hornworms in America. Unlike the vast majority of moths, this is highly colored, in pinks and green, mirroring the leaves and flowers of the caterpillars foodplant the Rosebay Willowherb.
