Description
This photo was done in concert with a poem I wrote:
"Dune ripples
on a lovely Lake Michigan beach
caressed
by the lengthening shadows
of wind blown dune grass."
The scene has me atop Mount Baldy in the Indiana Dunes. I had my Linhof Technica setup on my Gitzo tripod for about forty minutes while I waited for the sun to burst through the thick cloud cover. I knew that it would be a boring photo without shadows and I waited and waited. Per usual my trip served several purposes wherein on this day I was due in Chicago for a meeting at a certain time. I knew it would take about 50 minutes to get to the meeting from where I was and I couldn't be late. The sun would not cooperate and so I began packing up my Domke bag, waiting until the last possible moment to dismantle my 4X5 view camera. Then it happened. The sun came out ever so briefly and I squeezed off two shots. Sometimes patience is rewarded.
