Description
"Dogwood Blues"
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
... What could scream Spring
louder than a fully flowering
dogwood tree?
Especially a fresh white dogwood
captured in the Smoky Mountains.
This is the western edge
of North Carolina near the border
of Tennessee and Georgia.
There is a light morning mist
in the air, typical
of the Smokies
on a cool Spring morning.
The trees are newly leafed out
and are decorated
in pastel Spring shades.
A pasture of very blue wildflowers
bloom at the feet
of this spectacular tree.
Soon the days will grow longer
and temperature will warm
into Summer, but for now,
the dew is thick on the grass
and the air is still crisp
early in the morning
just after dawn...
