Description
Diverticulum of the small intestine. Endoscope view of periampullary diverticulum (PAD), outpouchings of the duodenum occurring near the ampulla of Vater. The ampulla of Vater is the opening of the common bile duct into the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine). Duodenal diverticula are usually asymptomatic, though complications, such as pancreatitis, haemorrhage and enterolith formation, can sometimes occur.
