Description
Although there must be others, this is the only monument to an ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) dispatch rider that I have seen. It lies in the small churchyard at Garnant near Ammanford in West Wales. Both my great-grandfather and my great-great-grandfather are buried nearby.
It has been suggested that Mollie Davies was the first woman who died on active service in the British Army during the Second World War.
