Description
PLEASE NOTE: This image is designed to be gallery framed on gloss paper, and not specifically to be printed on canvas. Gallery framing is usually using a black frame (I use model HP4) and a white mat calculated at about 25-35% of the print's width.
As an example, a 16x20" print would need a 4" to 5" bright white matte.
These are just my suggestion as to how museums usually frame photographs. All the photos in my home, both monotone and color) are framed this way. It makes the image stand out, while giving a consistant look for all your hanging images.

Anne, Sylvie and Megan, thank you all for the kind words. I shot it on film back in the 1970s as I was backpacking in the mountains above Lake Tahoe. Somehow, it was growing above the tree line, which is likely why it grew in such a distorted shape. I recall only taking the one photo of it. It began as a photo, to which I added brush strokes to digitally. It almost looks like a tree that had fallen over exposing its roots, but roots don't have bark. There's something almost spiritual when everything around you is below you for as far as you can see. It's magical.
