"I wanted to ... discover the hidden treasures ... to cut time into fine strips..."

Home to the Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra is The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London. It was originally known as the Covent Garden Theatre (Covent Garden history goes back to a time when the site was a medieval convent garden belonging to Westminster Abbey) before it became known as the Theatre Royal.
Fires destroyed the original 1732 construction more than once; each time it was rebuilt. The present theatre was designed by Edward Barry, and built in 1858. Back in 1734, George Frideric Handel brought music to the theatre. He played here until his death in 1759, with an emphasis on opera; finally, in 1892, in recognition of the expanding venues, it was renamed the Royal Opera Even with its last restoration in 1999, it remains much the same as when it first opened. (In January 2016 another remedial project begins, est. cost 35 million).
It is a busy place, averaging approximately 150 performances per season [of approximately 20 operas]. It has seating for over 2100, with standees of over 100.
In recognition of its strength and longevity, and the vivacity of the Life within, I present an atmospheric image with a deliberate grainy texture to depict the character of the classic, artistic pillars of the Royal Opera House: upholding, containing, and sharing its Light out to the world.

Connie, I don't know what it is about lines and angles and the geometry of life that surrounds us every day - it fascinates me and, girl, IMHO you outdid yourself with "Definitions." Add to that your composition and black and white and, Bam! my visual mind is blown. Can you tell I love this?? Yep, I most certainly do and if I can take a moment away from staring at it, I will put this in a top spot in my Connie H. collection - Okay, done!!

Love the play of light and shadow here in this photograph that show off the beauty of the shapes and details of the architecture of this place.
