Description
This painting depicts a deckhand taking a moment from work to stare out to the open sea. I painting this on a "Routeing Chart" that was being discarded from this ship which I was working on. The red markings on the chart indicate typical wind patterns. In some ways this is a sort of nod to my hero Caspar David Friedrich, where the viewer looks over the shoulder of the subject and on to the sublime of nature.
