Description
"Country Life" photo was taken out in the country in East Texas. It shows a beautiful red and white barn with a rustic tin roof and stacks of large round hay bales in front of the old barn.
It typifies the look of country life to me. When I look at the photograph, I think of the animals that are most likely nearby. I think of a field full of horses grazing on what grass they can find. Or it could be a field of cattle, munching on the hay that the ranch owner brought to them from this supply at the barn.
But I also imagine a quieter life on the farm. A day not full of so much traffic, crime, hustle and bustle. Where, after the chores are done, and the animals are fed, the owner kicks back with a glass of iced tea and enjoys the sights and sounds of the great outdoors. He does not have a neighbor right at his back door, for they are miles down the road. He knows them, because he makes that his business to watch out for his neighbors place too. And vice versa, because that is life in the country. I think of a simpler time when you didn't even have to lock everything up and have a neighborhood watch and see the police car constantly patrolling down your street. A time when you didn't hear of so many burglaries, robberies, murders, and rapists. A time when you could loan your neighbor your farm tool and you knew, without question, that when he was finished , it would be returned in the same shape it was when he borrowed it. A time when you grew your own garden and lived off the land, and the fruits and vegetables that your gleaned from the ground. And you sold your leftover fruits and vegetables or gave them to a friend in need. A time when if you had a hardship, your neighbors and friends were there to HELP you get through it. When everyone chipped in to make life work!
When you think on these things, it makes you wish that life was simpler and those good old fashioned morals and lifestyles were still as prevalent as they used to be. Life has gotten difficult for the rancher and the farmer and that is such a shame.
