Over 5 million people visit Sedona Arizona. Most who visit Sedona see the area only from the two main highways going through town. They do not realize the back country or wilderness areas are much more dramatic and interesting. Loaded with wildlife. The area west of Sedona for about 50 miles is all wilderness, mountains, honeycombed with hiking trails, where no vehicles are allowed. This Painting represents that area, one of the largest forests in the country. All kinds of wildlife abound, like this Cougar, on the Red Rocks, just waiting for his dinner to come closer. :)
The cougar (Puma concolor), also known as the puma, mountain lion, or catamount, is a mammal of the family Felidae, native to the Americas. This large, solitary cat has the greatest range of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America. An adaptable, generalist species, the cougar is found in every major American habitat type. It is the second heaviest cat in the Western Hemisphere, after the jaguar. Although large, the cougar is most closely related to smaller felines and is closer genetically to the domestic cat than to true lions. Like the smaller felines, the cougar is nocturnal.

Thank You to the buyer from Cottonwood for your purchase. This is also one of My favorites out of the paintings Nadine does... Wish that I could keep all of them, but we dont have the room. 8>) Some think Arizona is all desert, but we have the larges Ponderosa Pine forest in the World... We love to go there, and once saw a mountain lion, so Nadine painted this one as a memory of that experience...
